Apprentice Mechanical Engineer

Founded in 1985, Graham Edwards Trailers have continued to grow in both stature and creativity, manufacturing 10 trailer types with over 50 standard models available. 

As well as their much established range of Livestock and Flatbead trailers, they also manufacture Plant, General Purpose, Tipping, Tractor Drawn and many bespoke trailer to suit customers requirements. 

Located on an 8 acre purpose built site at Full Sutton, near Stamford Bridge, Graham Edwards Trailers provide a full range of functions from fabrication right through to assembly, finishing and ultimately sales with over 30 agents nationally covering the length and breadth of the UK as well as other agents covering Ireland and mainland Europe. 

The backbone of the company's philosophy has always been build up to a standard and not down to a cost. It is this philosophy which has driven forward their design and fabrication teams to create their unique range of highly versatile livestock and commercial trailers that provide customers with a robust and reliable, means of conducting business.

Job Description:

This apprenticeship will offer a fantastic opportunity for someone to come into the business and learn every aspect of the company. There will be an opportunity to work in each area in order to establish the best fit for the apprentice. There will be opportunities to develop in CAD, Mechanical Manufacture and Fabrication, therefore offering a great all round skills base for the organisation to grow and develop over the four year apprenticeship. 

Day to day duties will include:

  • Laser Cutter
  • CNC Press Brake
  • Computer Aided Dsign using Solid Works packages
  • Fabrication
  • Assembly

Qualifications Required:

A-Levels in Maths, Physics and ICT are preferred for this role. 

Personal Qualities:

  • You must be able to work as part of a team
  • Have an enthusiastic approach with a desire to succeed
  • Flexible attitude to work and learning
  • Self-motivated

Skills Required:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ideally the ability to interpret diagrams or forms and have numeracy skills for measuring
  • Due to location, own transport is essential for the role. 

Qualifications Gained(upon completion):

Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacture.
