DTA celebrating the success of apprentices

DTA celebrating the success of apprentices

Over 130 people were in attendance at DTA's annual Awards and Graduation Ceremony on Thursday 19th October to celebrate the success of all apprentices. 35 graduates were being celebrated for completing their apprenticeships with local employers across Ryedale, York and the Yorkshire Coast and are now all fully qualified engineers following a 4 year programme. 

DTA presented a variety of awards on the evening to hard working apprentices such as the Lord Derwent Award for effort and achievement, Apprentice of the Year and Highly Commended in Electrical/Maintenance, Mechanical and Fabrication and Welding, Final Year NVQ, Higher Apprenticeship and Employer of the Year which was won by ISF, York as well as Mentor of the Year won by Dan Hall of UAD Engineering, Scarborough.

Will Luke be Malton and Norton's Bright Young Star?

Everyone at DTA would like to say congratulations to Rosti Automotive Apprentice, Luke Woods de Lacy who has been named as a finalist for Bright Young Star at The Pride of Malton and Norton Awards. The Awards are in its eighth year with the Awards due to take place on Saturday 4th November at The Talbot Hotel's York House Marquee.

Rosti Automotive in Pickering said this of Luke: ''Luke is progressing really well and has contributed to many technical installations of equipment already. He is hard working and its a pleasure in helping him to develop his career.''

Message from the Chairman

Message from the Chairman

Most people who look at a business make the mistake of not seeing the business at all. If it's a manufacturing company, what they see is a building, machinery, offices and computers. They do not see the wood from the trees, the true essence of the business...the people. 

I think DTA is viewed by many in the same way. People see a training facility with classrooms, computers and workshops. It's a place where apprentices go to get trained and people get their first aid certificates. Of course, DTA is  these things and provides these things but I ask you to stop for a moment and consider, who does these things, how do they do it and why?

Dale Power Solutions wins at Regional NAS Awards 2017

Dale Power Solutions wins at Regional NAS Awards 2017

It was a win, win for Dale Power Solutions at the regional heats of the National Apprenticeship Awards on 10th October. Not only did Dales take the award for Large Employer but apprentices Hannah Magowan won the Advanced Apprentice category and Mickyle Clark was awarded the Higher/Degree Apprentice. Having won at regional level, all three will be entered into the nationwide competition to compete with the country's elite. Finalists will be announced in November and the winners in January 2018.

The Awards, now in their fourteenth year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service and recognise excellence in two areas: business that grow their own talent with apprentices and apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplace.
