Government boosts for Apprenticeships

As part of the Government's Plan for Jobs the cash incentive for hiring apprentices is set to be extended for six months.

Employers who hire an apprentice between 1st April 2021 and 30th September 2021 will receive £3,000 per new hire regardless of the apprentice's age. This payment is in addition to the £1,000 incentive payment already provided for a 16-18 year old apprentice and those under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan, meaning that some employers could receive £4,000 per apprentice in total.

Derwent Training are encouraging employers to build their future with apprenticeships.

Claire Gavaghan, Chief Executive Offer at Derwent Training Association said this: ''Apprentices bring fresh thinking and energy to a business which helps them to innovate and be competitive. We urge businesses to give serious consideration to apprenticeships as a way to support business growth and I encourage them to make full use of any incentives offered by the Government to boost the economy.''

Claire followed up with ''Collectively businesses in North Yorkshire must strive for growth even during times of decreased productivity. Businesses should continue to develop skills within its workforce as well as invest in new recruits to replace gaps.''
